EPSON Impact Printers on a Mac
A quick how-to on adding an EPSON Impact Printer to a Macintosh computer. But first please perform the following steps to ensure your printer is physically functioning. 1. Turn the printer off and disconnect the interface cable. 2. Load plain, single part tractor paper into the printer. 3. Press the LOAD/EJECT button while turning on the printer. NOTE: The self test prints over several pages. After the first or second page has printed, press PAUSE and turn the printer off. If this self test prints correctly, then the printer hardware is functioning correctly. *** Connection Type : USB or TCP/IP Driver : EPSON 9-pin or 24-pin Series 1.3 (resident CUPS / PPD driver - provided by Apple) (no official EPSON driver) For USB connection: .USB direct connection - check System Profiler- under USB connection (check if you have a connection, it is recommended to use a direct USB connection. For conversion cables, does not always work) .Go to Print & Fax and add the printer using the above driver (remember it's a CUPS driver so don't look under the EPSON folder) *** For TCP/IP connection: .Make sure your TCP/IP connection/network is working properly. .Download the EPSONNet Config Utility from http://support.epson.com .Run the application and it will locate the printer on the local area network regardless of IP address .Config to taste - default user/pass : (it's blank, just hit OK button) .Go to Print & Fax and add the printer using the above driver (remember it's a CUPS driver so don't look under the EPSON folder) *** *the EPSONNet Config Utility is also available for Windows (it's a neat utility) *** For further information, You can access documentation for most products manufactured by Epson America, Inc. by visiting the Epson America, Inc. support site at http://www.epson.com/support , then select your product. |
