Another Apple Compatible Machine Open Tech - Another Mac Clone Vendor Open Tech's "Home" (equipped with an Intel dual-core Pentium processor, 3GB of memory, an nVidia GeForce 8600 CT video card and a 500GB hard drive) and "XT" (which includes an Intel Core 2 quad-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, an nVidia GeForce 8800 video card and a 640GB drive) machines will sell for $620 and $1,200, respectively. OS X Leopard will not be pre-installed or included. You need purchase an Open Tech compatible install disc from a third-party vendor or install it yourself using a Do-it-Yourself kit. It is clear that the company is selling a computer capable of being a "Hackintosh" with directions for installing OS X that are otherwise readily available for free on the Internet. No one is entirely sure whether this even qualifies as a Mac clone, but the company wisely, or unwisely, is touting it as machine capable of running any modern operating system. A Mac is a Mac / A PC is a PC period.
